The Giovanni Rana fresh pasta factory was born as an artisan, Italian small shop of fresh pasta in the after war. The great intuition that transformed the company from a small reality into a large company was to produce fresh pasta for mass consumption. It was the 60s and the first to be produced and distributed were the famous tortellini – today, thanks to continuous research, creativity and respect for quality, the company can boast a portfolio of over 1000 different references including a range of fresh sauces that follows the same principles of Pasta.

Among Rana’s various products, the sauce range has been the focus of cutting-edge technological research in recent years. The company has succeeded in developing a product that honors the integrity of its raw ingredients. Unlike competitors, whose sauces are primarily cream-based, Rana’s sauces preserve the original form of the ingredients, maintaining their nutritional values and delivering a flavor that feels genuine, authentic, and as if homemade.

Starting from the original jar, we stripped away all “superfluous” graphic elements, focusing on transparency and simplicity as the main assets of the packaging. This approach makes the product fully visible, instantly revealing its textures, where the ingredients stand out in an appetizing and appealing way. From a design perspective, the jar embraces absolute minimalism: graphics are rendered in white when placed over dark sauces or in deep blue (the brand color) for lighter sauces. A vibrant and fresh touch comes from the aluminum lid, where bold, impactful colors enhance navigation across different product varieties, showcasing the creativity and modernity of the range. The result of this commitment to minimalism and purity is a premium, elegant collection where the product takes center stage, breaking away from traditional mass-market supermarket codes.
